Majors

We aim at equipping our students with basic theories and methodologies in mathematical science. The students, being well trained in applying their mathematical knowledge, are expected to be able to solve practical problems by using computers. Consequently, they could be qualified in the fields of conducting research, technological development and management in various fields such as technology, education, economics, finance, and insurance.

This program is an interdisciplinary major of mathematics and finance and adapts 2+2 training mode. In the first two years, students study fundamental knowledge of mathematics and economics in Faculty of Science. In the last two years, students mainly study financial theory in Faculty of Economics. The graduates will be awarded the bachelor degree of Economics.

Besides basic theories, knowledge and methods in pure and applied mathematics, to help our students becoming better in conducting scientific research and solving practical problems, they will also be trained in computer science, mathematical modeling and mathematical software. The core courses include mathematical analysis, advanced algebra, analytical geometry, probability theory, ordinary differential equation, mathematical statistics, numerical analysis, financial engineering, evidence investment analysis, actuarial science,and time series analysis.

This program is affiliated to the mathematics discipline, which is one of the 12th Five-Year key disciplines in Zhejiang province. Besides a team of highly professional instructors, the well implemented Mathematics Experiment Center, equipped with Information and Computing Science Laboratory, Mathematical Modeling Laboratory, High performance Computing and Simulation Laboratory as well as Student Software Development Innovation Practice Base, will provide students with good chances to enhance their practical skills.

After graduation, students can work in finance related areas. For example, they can be employed in security company, bank, and insurance company, working as actuary, statistician, information processing technician and so on. They can also pursue master and PhD degrees in the fields like mathematics, computer science and technology, and applied economics.
