Applied Physics (including energy science)

Applied physics enables students to develop a strong physics foundation and equipes students with the basic and methods of physics. This program prepares students into professionals in the fields of scientific research, teaching, technology development and management.

This program is affiliated to the energy discipline in Faculty of Science, which focuses on training students to apply basic physical theory in the fields of the detection and control technology of the process of energy and its utilization, the development and utilization in wind-light complementary, solar system, the hydrogen system, and other major new energy.

Besides fundamental courses of physics, students in this program will systematically study the knowledge and experiment skill in energy science and technology, photoelectric test technology, and computer control technology. The core courses include engineering thermodynamics, engineering fluid mechanics, heat transfer, Introduction of energy and environmental systems engineering, new energy technology, circuits and electronics, microcomputer principle and application, photoelectric detection technology, photoelectric sensor technology, and optical system design. These courses not only prepare students for employment in the field of public power utility, but also prepare students for graduate study in environmental protection, aviation and aerospace.

In order to accommodate to the requirements for experimental teaching demonstration, the physics experiment center was built , whose central task is in charge of physical experimental teaching for all the undergraduates in our University. The center includes a modern physics lab, a new energy lab, and a combustion lab, which provides a good platform for students to engage in professional training and innovation practice.

The graduates can work in the fields of new energy development, clean energy production, energy and environmental protection. Some graduates can choose to continue their studies at postgraduate level, studying physics, power engineering, or environmental sciences via an MSC or PhD.
